I didn’t even know what a Speech Language Pathologist was, when I decided to change my major from nursing to Communicative Disorders after my first semester in college. After watching “My Fair Lady” during my first introduction class in college, I felt a surge of energy realizing that I had found my passion and my profession. I am a sucker for musicals, (thanks to my grandma’s influence), and I was fascinated by Dr. Doolittle’s ability to hear an accent and recognize the precise place of origin for each person he met. When I was trying to decide on a career path, I thought to myself, “What do I love to do?” I love to communicate with people. Hearing people’s stories, and learning from shared experiences, is my favorite way to connect with others and the world. Now I am a dedicated Speech-Language Pathologist, with over 15 years of experience working in this exciting field. I have served hundreds of students and a number of adults in a wide variety of educational and rehabilitation settings. I specialize in assessing, diagnosing, and supporting children and adults facing a diverse range of communication, speech, and language challenges. My expertise spans across expressive and receptive language disorders, articulation and phonological difficulties, fluency disorders such as stuttering, and pragmatic or social communication needs, including support for individuals with autism spectrum disorder and needing support through alternative means of communication.
With a passion for empowering individuals, I utilize a variety of evidence-based strategies tailored to each client’s strengths and challenges. My assessment process is comprehensive, incorporating standardized testing, dynamic observation, and input from families and educators to ensure a holistic understanding of every client’s needs. Intervention plans are highly individualized, drawing on approaches such as language intervention therapy, articulation therapy, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), and social skills training.
Collaboration is central to my practice. I work closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to set meaningful goals and integrate therapy into real-world contexts, whether in schools, clinics, or home environments. I provide resources and training to empower caregivers and teachers, ensuring that progress extends beyond therapy sessions.
Committed to professional growth, I actively participate in continuing education, attend conferences, and stay current with the latest research in speech-language pathology to enhance my own practices. I continually seek innovative, culturally responsive, and technology-enhanced approaches to maximize outcomes for every client. My mission is to foster communication confidence and independence, helping each individual realize their fullest potential.
I am thrilled to be a part of the Excel Psychology team! I look forward to collaborating with this talented team to make a meaningful difference for those we serve.
